The letter also mentions Fred Chambers, who ran Bush's unsuccessfull Senate Campaign in 1970. Bush would later run the Republican National Committee and the Central Intelligence Agency before being picked by Ronald Reagan as his running mate in 1980

Three months later Reagan would pick Bush as his running mate...and the rest is history!
