George H.W.Bush signed thank you note for a donation to the Republican Campaign Committee by Isaac Arnold of Quintana Petroleum of Houston, Texas, Dated June 22cd, 1967. The letter also mentions Fred Chambers, who ran Bush's  unsuccessfull  Senate Campaign in 1970. Bush would later run the Republican National Committee and the Central Intelligence Agency before being picked by Ronald Reagan as his running mate in 1980

Barbara Bush hand-written not to Precinct Captain Peg Molin in Michigan thanking her for her help in the Bush victory  over Ronald Reagan in the 1980 Michigan Primary. Unfortunately for Bush, Reagan went on to win the nomination after his now-famous: "I'm paying for this microphone!" remark in the next primary.  Three months later Reagan would pick Bush as his running mate...and the rest is history!
